BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Myanma General and Maintenance Industries (MGMI) is a State owned enterprise under the Ministry of Industry (1). It is mainly responsible for electrical and mechanical installation and maintenance work, production of general consumer goods and civil construction. It is an organization established on 1 st June 1993 by merging the Myanma Metal Industries (MMI) and the Myanma General Industries (MGI). They were inaugurated in 1972 by the Notification No. 1 of the Ministry of Industry dated 16 th March 1972, as the Corporation having perpetual succession and a common seal with power to acquire hold or own property both movable and immovable and shall, by the said name, sue or be sued. Yet there were no changes in all their purposes, functions, business and legal character.
ORGANIZATION
Managing Director is the head of the organization holding all the responsibilities. The Board of Director executes the policy laid down by Ministry and solves the major problems.
The following are the main business departments,

• Marketing Department
• Finance Department
• Administration Department
• Raw Material Planning Department
• Planning Department
Each department is headed by a respective General Manager.
Under MGMI, there are 28 factories at present. Those factories consist of Footwear Factories, Rubber Goods Factories, Leather Factory, Leather Goods Factory, Paper Packaging Materials Factory, Plastic Ware Factory, Myanma Unbrella Factory, Works and Maintenance Factory. Enamel Wares Factories, Bicycle Factory, Sewing Machine Factory, Rubber Gloves Factory, Enamel & Household Stainless Steel Ware Factory.
