BRIEF DESCRIPTION

          Myanma Textile Industries (MTI) is one of the six state-owned Myanma Industries under the Ministry of Industry (1), engaged in the production of variety of textile products from the public sector.

          It was previously named as Textile Industries Corporation. In 1989, the name of the Corporation was changed to Myanma Textile Industries to be in line with new Market Oriented System adopted in the country in late 1988.

ORGANIZATION

          MTI adopts the system of the Managing Director holding responsibility under the leadership of the Board of Management. The Board of Management acts as the supreme authority. The following are the main business departments each under its own General Manager.

• Raw Material Planning Department
• Production Department
• Marketing Department
• Finance Department
• Administration Department

          Under MTI, there are altogether 33 factories at present. The factories and mills consist of Spinning, Weaving and Finishing Factories, Textile Mills, Garment Factories, Knitting Factories, Blanket Factories, Towel Factory, Sewing Thread Factory and Cotton- Wool and Bandage Factory.
